Readin Diary A: Public Domain Ramayana

I read the Ramayana: Public Domain Edition. I really enjoyed reading the first portion of this story. The story started off with introducing King Dasharatha. He was as introduced as a very wealthy man but who was sad. He was sad because he could not have sons. Eventually though by conducting a ceremony, he is given three sons. The story goes on with the three sons marrying but then things turn for the worst. Rama the son of King Dasharatha is banished and goes into exile. His faithful wife and brother insist on joining him. He had no choice but to allow them. The story ends with an even sadder note. King Dasharatha passes away. Everybody was sadden by the death of King Dasharatha.
The plot of the story was not the only thing that I enjoyed. I also enjoyed the way the story it was written. It was very detailed. For instance in the King Dasharatha chapter when the speaker was describing King Dasharatha's home. The speaker used key terms that helped me picture King Dasharatha's home. I imagined it to be very extravagant and majestic. I liked how the author described the setting to be very rich and extravagant. I kind of thought the purpose of it was to emphasize the idea that the King was wealthy on the outside but not on the inside. He was not emotionally fulfilled. This was because he did not have any sons.
I also like the picture that was included in the first chapter. It is a very beautiful picture. It makes me want to visit the place.

Week 1 Curation

I never really used bookmarks. I honestly just usually used my memory to keep track of my online resources for school. Occasionally, I will write the website address down into my planner if it's a site that I do not visit frequently or most likely will forget. I know that this is not the best method but since you brought up using bookmarks I think I will start using them again.
No, I am not really with Pinterest or Twitter. I know what they are because I have a lot of friends that use them. I am kind of slow about that kind of stuff. I did not get a Facebook or an Instagram until after a lot of convincing. I have a Pinterest account that I made for my previous class Mythology and Folklore but I have not really used it recently. Even though I have not used it in a while, I think this would be something that I would be most interested in trying out just because I have seen my friends accounts and really liked it. I think I just have to use it more frequently then I'll really get into it.

Growth Mindset

I have never heard of Carol Dweck and/or the growth mindset before until now so I did not know what to really expect. While watching the videos and reading the articles, I noticed that Carol Dweck brought up some interesting topics. For instance, she brought up "wise rewarding." She discussed how many children today will not do much unless they are prompted by a reward. I thought this was interesting because I never really thought about rewarding too much or too little.
Another topic that Carol Dweck brought up that I thought was interesting was "How should we learn?" She mentioned how learning these days are a chore when really they should be more natural and fun. I agree with this. I think if learning was more perceived not as disciplined and a chore, students would be more ambitious about learning and even learn better.
I included this meme below because I really agree with. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life and even though they were errors they did not go out without purpose. They showed to newer opportunities that I did not see before.

Storybook Favorites

A storybook that grabbed my attention was the Law & Order: SSU. This attracted me because of its use of the TV show Law & Order to set its storybook. I used to watch Law & Order. I like how it used something that I know, Law & Order, to introduce me to something new -- something I don't know, which is Indian stories. The introduction did a good job of explaining the topic. It gave me a glimpse of what I am getting into. Overall, the gray and black layout fit well with what it was going for which is a crime show.

Another storybook that interested me was the Real Housewives of Ramayana. I really liked the layout of this storybook. I liked how the titles of the pages were similar to titles of episodes. It aided in the reality tv theme it was going for. The introduction was well written. I especially liked how it was in the perspective of the tv host. Overall the layout of the storybook was really good. The navigation was easy. I could find everything. The storybook wasn't too busy. It was simple and clear, which made finding things easy.
The third storybook that grabbed me was The Diary of Karma. The introduction was well written. It really informed me of what the storybook was going to be about. Another aspect that drew me to this was the fact that it was going to be written in a diary format. I read a couple of the "diary entries" and really enjoyed them. One of the "diary entries" that I read was "Sugriva's Diary." I liked how it was broken down into days. This contributed to the diary theme. I also liked the background that was used in this storybook. It looks like old off white paper you would find in a diary. This also contributed to the diary theme it is going for. Overall, everything about this storybook fits well with each other.
